Goethe‘s tragedy „Faust“ is one of the most important dramatic works in the world. It is the tragedy of the man themselves. It is the tragedy about the striving for cognition man who fails at the borders of knowledge and experience. Faust will not accept this limit and makes a pact with the devil. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe finished the first part of his brilliant drama in 1806. Taken from the Middle Ages, Goethe reinterprets the material in a humanistic, enlightened way. The striving for knowledge of his hero is determined by Goethe as a deep human beings. His drama he described as „world poetry“. He specifically has determined it for the whole world. It summarizes the history of the man and many poetic forms.
